This week’s writing challenge from the folks at Trifecta intrigued me. Exactly 33 words to tell a story, followed by “That’s not what I meant.” Not easy! Give it a try . . .
She stood at the plane door, parachute on.
Midlife crisis be damned; this was an awful idea.
She decided she was ready to concede defeat. “I’m ready . . .”
“That’s not what I meaaannnnt . . .”

*hahaha* This is fantastic – and probably exactly what would happen to me in the same situation. 🙂
Funny one. Ready or not here she comes.
Haha! I think that, especially when you’re standing at an open door on an airplane, it’s important to choose your words wisely. Thanks for linking up!
Take note kids, and choose your words wisely.
Too late to turn back now 😉
lol No, really. I laughed out loud. Very funny!
Thank you:). Always feel like I’ve done my job if you laugh or cry!

They eyed each other with apprehension holding their guns steady. I will try if you try he said. In reply she said i will give it a shot. Bang! That’s not what I meant
i counted the thats not what i meant into the 33??
Ah, Anne–you get 33 words before “That’s not what I meant!”. So you can add 5 more:). Impressive, though!
Thanks, Maria! Means a lot, coming from you:). I think you should give it a go.
She has a lot of time to think things over on the way down haha
Thank you, Colleen! I think you should give it a try:)
I was thinking I would. I also thought I might have my students try it. Should be fun 🙂
I’m envious of people who can write a story in so few words! Great take on the theme.
Thank you! Not sure it’s a talent I can take far but oddly creative that way:).
perfect take on this prompt. I could hear her.
guess she’s ready now, huh? 🙂
I think the phrase is “ready or not” :). Thanks for stopping by!
